My Struggles as a Business Owner

It is hard enough to have a successful business.  Add on a family, animals, home, and another job.  The odds are definitely stacked against me.  Here are some of the reasons that I am struggling so much to get my business up and running.

Unsupportive husband.  My husband told me to just go out and get a real job.  When I explained about working from home, he thought I would do better with a job outside of my home.  Even though this inconviences my family who watch the boys, he would rather I work more hours to help with our bills. Because of his thoughts, I just work a little here and there.  I try to hide my business instead of working in the evenings when he is home to help.

No schedules.  I had the boys on a good schedule with naps.  I knew exactly when I would have some time to work.

No naps.  I used to have two or three hours a day when both boys slept.  Now, I am lucky if I get a short break to unwind.

Another job.  I was trying to work hard enough to justify quitting my job.  Instead, I quit my one job to pick up more hours at the other.  I was hoping to have at least one or two more days to find some time to work on my business.

Trying to figure out what is important.  If I want any time to myself, I have to get up really early.  Then, I stress because I can’t decide what to do.  Should I exercise?  Work?  Then, there is always the times that people take the boys.  Then, I really can’t decide if I should exercise, work, or catch up on my scrapbooking.  I really need to unwind lately and instead, I exercise or write.

Not enough sleep.  With getting up early, I often feel like I am not getting enough sleep.  I am so tired all day long.  Then, I get a little sleep and it is time to start over.  I feel so much better, even if it is only an additional hour of sleep.

Even with all of these things stacked against me, I plan to work hard.  I would love to have enough business to work when the kids are in school.  Until then, I have set a goal to write at least two blogs daily (Monday through Friday) for  This will help with my expenses.  The really nice thing about Blogmutt is that I can work when I have time.  If something comes up, I don’t have to stress about getting it done.   That is what is working for me right now.
