It is Ok to Ask for Help

2014 year - Page 035

Running a business is a lot of work.  Raising children is a full time job.  Taking care of a home adds even more to a full plate.  So, how do you balance work and family?

I hear often how you want to work at home so that you do not have to hire a baby sitter.  You want to be able to stay home with you children while also bringing in some income.  However, most of the people who work at home or own their own business need a babysitter at least part time.  There is nothing wrong with that.

I have been there – trying to fit ten minutes in here and there while the kids are playing.  Interruption after interruption does not allow for a very productive day.  Naps are great but they eventually end.  Quiet play time in their own room may last a half an hour if you are lucky.  We dream of school days when we have time to work.  Could you imagine how much more you could get done if you hired a baby sitter even one day a week?  You could even have someone come to your house so that you could see the children on your breaks.

Imagine if you got someone to clean your house once a month or even once a week.  How much time would that save you?  Maybe you could hire someone to help with cooking, laundry, and dishes.  Who likes to do that anyway?  It would certainly take some stress off of you.

What if you got a Virtual Assistant?  Some of the virtual assistants that I know have their own virtual assistants.  What could I do to help you: paperwork, take care of your social media, write newsletters?  Some virtual assistants book appointments and answer phones.  How much more work could you get done if, when you were focusing on working, you made money instead of doing all of the little things that you need to do to take care of a business.

There is such a balance between working from home and your family life.  There is no separation when you work at home.  When you own your own business, it is often on your mind.  Getting help with the children, house, and even your own work is not weak.  It is a smart person who can ask for help.  It allows you to focus on what you need to.
