Finding Work As a Freelancer

When you work from home and freelance, you are in charge of finding work for yourself.

Only you can determine how much work you can successfully handle. You have to find a balance between making the amount of money you need and how much you really want to work.

There are also going to be times when you have to decide what you are comfortable with. Here are some things to consider when looking for jobs.

  • Are you getting paid well enough? Many freelancers work for almost nothing. Think, where you can get services for just five dollars. You need to make sure that you are making enough money to be worth it.
  • Are you happy with the client? Some clients can be so difficult that it does not seem worth the money. You should be able to be picky enough that you enjoy who you are working for.
  • Are you happy with the job? Once you get enough offers, you should be able to choose jobs that you enjoy. Don’t waste your time doing jobs that you hate just to make some money. It is not worth it.

Right now, I am torn myself. I love getting the money from my current writing job though the deadlines are very hard to adhere to.

I miss being able to have some time off when the children have certain things. I miss the ability to work when I am not, not just because I have to.

I love writing though I am spending less and less time doing that. I am turning into an editor, always making sure that pieces are written well, quickly, and on time. I have to worry that they are getting paid what they deserve.

I know that I didn’t really get paid enough to write at Blogmutt but I really miss the environment. I had to keep myself writing, even when I didn’t want to, if I wanted to make any amount of money, so it wasn’t like I only worked here and there. I put in plenty of effort to make the money that I did.

It is time for some serious thinking. What do I really want to do? Only I can tell myself that, like only you can decide what you want to do.

Good luck in your adventures!
